So after trying on THREE different pairs of my jeans last weekend and not fitting into any of them, i decided that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
that very day, i embarked on a Whole 30, and I’m glad to say that I’m rockin’ it!!
in case you’re not familiar with what a Whole 30 is, I’ll explain.
the Whole 30 is basically a “reset”, if you will.
while on the W30, you basically eliminate any and all foods that can cause inflammation in your body.
foods such as wheat (gluten), dairy, grains, sugar, and peanuts are all “trigger” foods that can cause inflammation, which also can result in unwanted weight gain.
by eliminating these foods for 30 days, your body will be sort-of detoxing and learning to function and heal without those foods hindering you.
so basically, for 30 days you will eat real, whole food; meat, seafood, eggs, tons of veggies, some fruit, and plenty of good fats from fruits, oils, nuts, and seeds.
they recommend that you eat foods with few ingredients, all pronounceable ingredients, or better yet, no ingredients listed at all because they’re totally natural and unprocessed.
i could list all the things you can’t eat while on the W30, but instead, I’ll give you the link to their website where you’ll get all the info you need. http://www.whole30.com
i did my first whole 30 a few years ago, and I’m not joking when i say that after the first two weeks, I felt better than i ever have in my life! no joke.
i no longer craved sweets or carbs, no longer hit that usual afternoon slump, my skin cleared up, i slept like a baby….overall, i felt AMAZING!
at the end of the 30 days, the idea is to add a new food back into your diet every 3 days. by adding one food back at a time, you’re able to determine which foods are your trigger foods.
only don’t do what i did and go hog wild by basically bathing myself in sugar once it was over! seriously, i ate sugar like it was a delicacy that i’d never had before.
this time however, once my W30 ends, my plan is to keep gluten and dairy completely out of my diet, and to limit sugar to special occasions.
dairy, gluten, and sugar are definitely triggers for me, and i need to be done with them!
i’ve come to a place where I realize that i need to take care of ME in order to be able to care for my hubby and kids.
and that includes eating well as well as exercising.
I will be posting about my Whole 30 journey here and there, mainly as a way to keep myself accountable.
even though the W30 isn’t meant to be a weight loss plan, I’m five days in and have already dropped 2 pounds!!
well, I’m off to plan my meals for today; have a good one!
